Ugly Book Review

Hi, today we are going to talk about this book called Ugly. Ugly is a non-fiction book it had happened to a person before. First, it starts with a mother called Mrs.Hoge and she had four children. One day she gave birth to a baby, and when the baby was born the baby got sent off to another room before her mother could even look at him. He was sent off because the baby which is a boy needs to do tests of what happened to him, is there any problem with him and can he survive. After the tests, they still don’t know how did it happen but they know the fact he is not going to survive his childhood and he is ugly and he has a disability he can’t walk. After a week he was born his mom saw her son for the first time and decided he would leave him in the hospital and told the nurses about it. A few weeks later his mother decides to let her children vote if her son should come home or not. After that, they had voted he should come home. After a few years, he had turn four and he had already done 27 surgeries to make his life better.      When he was four he had gone into the hospital so many times that he had always slept in the same bed and he has broken the record off how many files he had! He had 2 files of 1,000 pages! One day his mom and dad said he needs to do a surgery and he felt scared because he hadn’t done a surgery for a long time. After that, they told him that this surgery will prepare a surgery when he grew up to make him look normal. Then the time had come and he went into the same bed as usual and surgery time had come he had done it in the morning and he said it’s the best because he will just wake up and do the surgery without skipping lunch. when he entered the elementary school his siblings gone into he started playing sports but because of the disability he has he doesn’t have a lot of choices. In the middle of the story he had played rugby on the sideline, he had swum and he played bowl. One day when he played bowl the coach asked if he wants to play with him in his club every Saturday mornings. After that, he asked his mom and his mum said he will discuss the decision with his dad. The next day they said yes and he started playing bowl on Saturday mornings. After six months of playing his coach said if he wants to play in a game and he said yes and the coach said he had signed him up as the leader. Then the day arrived and he played and won the game. After a few years, he needs to do the big surgery and doesn’t want to! After a while, his parents said he can choose if he wants to do the surgery or not. After a month they need to make a decision and he said no! After he said no he explained why and he said it’s too much risk. After that, the story ends. In my opinion, the book is pretty inspiring because Robert did not give up when he got challenges.
